Subsea Oil & Gas Equipment

Subsea Connectors for Oil and Gas Equipment

Subsea oil and gas infrastructure -- wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds, umbilicals, and ROV tooling -- operates at extreme depths, pressures, and temperatures, often for decades between intervention. RV Power Group supplies wet-mate and dry-mate subsea connectors, penetrators, and cable assemblies for the full range of subsea oil and gas applications, from shallow-water platform risers to ultra-deepwater (3,000+ m) tieback systems.

Subsea O&G Electrical Connection Points

Equipment Connector Function Series Used
Subsea Control Module (SCM) Hydraulic, electrical, and fiber optic flying leads Circular Standard, Hybrid Opto-Electric
Subsea Distribution Unit (SDU) Power distribution, signal multiplexing High-Power, Ethernet connectors
Electric Actuators (EWA/ECA) Valve actuator power and position feedback Micro Circular, Circular Standard
Subsea Chemical Injection Solenoid valve and flow meter control Micro Circular Connectors
Intervention Tooling (ROV) Torque tool, hot stab, panel interfaces 55 Series, Circular Standard
Pressure Housing Bulkheads Electrical penetrations through metal housings Penetrators (split-type)

Deepwater Performance Requirements

  • Depth rating: 3,000 m standard; 7,000 m available for ultra-deepwater projects
  • Temperature range: -10 deg C to +90 deg C (low-temperature variants for Arctic deployments)
  • Material compatibility: Seawater, H2S-laden fluids, injection chemicals (methanol, MEG)
  • Shell options: 316L stainless steel, duplex SS, titanium Grade 5
  • O-ring material: Viton(R) for hydrocarbon and chemical compatibility
  • Qualification testing: NACE MR0175 (H2S service) available

ROV Intervention Connectors for Oil & Gas

Production tree panels and control modules require wet-mateable connectors that ROV manipulators can mate and demate routinely on the seafloor. RV Power Group supplies 55-Series connectors that are geometrically identical to SubConn(R) 55 Series, the industry standard for ROV-deployed hot-make connections on subsea equipment. These connectors feature:

  • Large-OD shells (easy ROV manipulator grip)
  • ROV-deployable torque retention mechanism
  • Color-coded dummy plugs for incorrect-mate prevention
  • Rated to 700 bar working pressure

Compatible Product Series

  • Subsea Circular Standard Connectors
  • Subsea 55 Series (industry-standard ROV intervention)
  • High-Power Underwater Connectors
  • Subsea Hybrid Opto-Electric Connectors
  • Subsea Ethernet & Data Connectors
  • Split-Type Connectors & Penetrators
